is the one o'clock on Saturday February 27, 2010. Just a few minutes ago I heard this:
An earthquake of 8.5 on the Richter scale was recorded in central Chile, the duration was nearly two minutes. An eternity. I really feel uneasy, very much. Less than 15 minutes talking on msn with a Chilean friend, Camilla, on the festival of Viña del Mar. suddenly stopped answering. Seeking information on the consequences of the earthquake in Chile and other South American countries want to know if he was in Argentina ("everything is fine, really, Lilian?) and in what intensity.
(If anyone has information on damage by the earthquake in South America please share it here)
There are no reports of anything yet, absolutely nothing in the newspapers "The third" and "second" on situation in Chile.
UPDATE: Apparently the Chilean news sites have collapsed.
In Chile, right now, it's 3 am, most of the population is at home. Hopefully the Chilean infrastructure has resisted this outrageous onslaught of nature.
Please all is well. Amazes me that today (well, yesterday) was another major quake in the world: 7.5 degrees Richter in Japan. For high, activated the alarm Tsunam i. I do not know, and I think no one knows, what does this have involved or affected.
UPDATE: Also in Chile the alarm was triggered Tsunami ( possible Tsunami on the coasts of Chile, Peru and Ecuador ).
UPDATE: The Secretary Patrick Roseberry rule Tsunami possibility.
UPDATE: So far, only one reported fatality. ---> As the first official report, are five people in the Maule. The Cathedral of Divine Providence is among the structures damaged.

Traditional media not suitable for real time reporting. The information and reports of damage is flowing through Twitter. In fact, the whole world has learned this fact through this network. For those who do not have access, here is a compilation first of tweets about the situation:

-------
the Colombian newspaper El Tiempo reported:
Thousands of people left their homes and are in the streets and parks of Santiago on fears of aftershocks. "Many people are camping in the streets," one witness told Reuters news agency.
At the moment it is unknown the extent of the damage recorded, although in several areas, including capital and Valparaiso, there have been power outages and restrictions on telephone lines.
The earthquake is one of the highest recorded in world history and is superior in magnitude to that recently devastated Haiti.

There are conflicting reports about the possibility of Tsunami on the coast of Valparaiso. If anyone has information, share it here. Just in case, take precautions: documents and supplies ready.
UPDATE: Photo gallery of the earthquake in Chile .
No I can stop thinking about how strange it is that before yesterday (Thursday) I attended a conference on earthquakes. Now, after that, instead of being quiet, I'm more nervous.
