On Monday February 7, convened by the Organization of American States, met a group of experts science, technology, project management and people in the science museum in the "Workshop: Project Profile for a museum of science and technology in Peru."
This event aimed to initiate the formulation of a proposed museum and museum for the future, and necessary, Museum of Science and Technology, from knowing and articulate experiences institutions and actors linked to the theme of cultural space management science collections and collecting impressions and inputs (know how) to realize a viable proposal for the said project profile museum.
Our view at the workshop was that the Museum of Science and Technology should not also fail to highlight the important industrial heritage that our country has, since this property is just the testimony of the development and application of science and technology in our history and is as important as archaeological or colonial heritage for history museums, heritage museums pictorial art or intangible heritage for museums of folklore and popular traditions.
A science museum must balance the interactive (key feature in this type of museum) with the information to transmit, but risk exposure is extremely fun and lose an educational effect. In this sense, information and industrial heritage exhibition is a great and necessary ingredient to balance these factors in the museum script.
addition, Peru has a large body of evidence technology deployed through our ancient history and Republican, as are the platforms and irrigation canals in the Inca period, textile factories and mining seats during the colonial era or the early railroads, power plants, sugar estates, etc, in the Republican era.
We are confident that this time, with the support of the Organization of American States and the participation of experts committed to this objective, the proposal for the creation of the Museum of Science and Technology will become a pleasant reality.
